Cacao Coffee

What you’ll need:

  • 1 heaping tbsp. unsweetened cacao powder

  • 1-2 tbsp. maple syrup

  • Dash of cinnamon

  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract

  • 8oz coffee

  • Small whisk (alt: frother, spoon)

How to Prepare

Prepare 8oz of coffee however you wish (drip, french press, or pour over). Combine cacao powder, maple syrup, cinnamon, and vanilla extract in a large mug. Pour about 3 tbsp. of coffee over mixture. Wisk ingredients and coffee together. Pour remainder of coffee into mug. Mix all together.

A Little Treat

One day a video of Ian Somerhalder making this very coffee came across my desk. I was in need of an afternoon pick me up, but out of ingredients to make my favorite raw milk yolky latte. I gave it a try and the rest was history.

It tastes kind of like a mocha but not too sweet or heavy. An added bonus—unsweetened cacao (supposedly) gives your metabolism a little kick, can help curb inflammation, and adds strength to your immune system. So this little treat can pass as a healthy sip.

Enjoy!
